design #16

Yay! Finally getting back into the nail design part of this blog. That's 2 posts in a row of pure nail designs... 2!!! lol! that's alot for me! Anyways on to the design:

Edvard Munch's The Scream Nails Before 100% Cleanup: Hope this doesn't make you "scream" but the violent strokes made cleanup such a nightmare that after a while I was like eff it.

One of the most recognizable paintings of the 20th century, painted by German expressionist artist Edvard Munch.  His painting broke record's just last month when it sold for an unbelievably ridiculous 119 million dollars (WHHHAT! GIGANTIC EYERoLL LIKE REALLY???? LIKE SERIOUSLYY??? YOU CAN LIKE TOTALLY END WORLD HUNGER WITH THHHHAT!)

But anyways, I love this painting!
Munch himself recounts:

I was walking along a path with two friends-- the sun was setting--suddenly the sky turned blood red--I paused, feeling exhausted and leaned on the fence--there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city.  My friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety -- and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.

Munch's Friends further along on the bridge.

Here's a better look at the 2 friends

:O

I used Sally Hansen Extreme Wear brand in White OnBlack OutCherry Red and Sunkissed.  Kleancolor brand polish in Dark Brown,  Cafe Au LiatPastel Yelllow, and Pastel Teal.  Spoiled brand polish in Jailbait.  Sinful Colors Professional brand in Why Not.  Topped it all off with Pro Fx Long Wearing UV Top Coat.

I like the stylized look of the screaming man, and the intense movements of the blood-red sky and blue-black fjord...It's so shocking, so arresting...so immersive, as if you're there...as if you're witnessing that infinite scream through nature. ~_~

I actually didn't know about the auction until I started painting the design.  They say it's so prized because its the only one (of four) scream paintings done by Munch that has a hand painted frame as well as a poem for his inspiration.  Whatever, I just really like the painting and thought that it would make for awesome nails.

This has been one of the hardest designs for me to do so far. I found it very hard to recreate colors that no nail polish company in their right mind would ever dare make!  And simply impossible to mimic the powerful impressive movements of blood-red sky and blue-black fjord!

Amazing!

Hope You Enjoyed This Post and Happy Painting,

P.S. I'm auctioning off my natural fingernails with this design on them for 119 Million dollars. Any takers??? That's rihhhgt!!! For 119 million dollars you can have em; I would definitely have my nails surgically removed from my fingers for that kind of money.  The way I see it, I have more technical skill than Munch since my canvas, is well super tiny! SO how about 238 million then?

Just kidding! ;-)
